The Martian

A treat for science-fiction lovers.

The Martian tells the story of a botanist and a mechanical engineer: Mark Watney , who was left behind in Mars due to a vicious sandstorm during his attempt to leave the planet with his crew-mates on a mission.  Mark survives the injuries and continues to find new ways to and communicate with earth, long enough for NASA to rescue him

Personally, I found the book utterly fascinating and gripping although it was  packed with huge amount of redundant scientific facts. The characters were really shallow and boring however, the protagonist: Mark Watney was a really funny and an amazing character throughout the book.  Especially when it came to his phenomenal way of fighting for survival.

Highly recommended for people blessed with a scientific mind.
